SUSTAINABILITY
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Savory is fully committed to continuing the drive towards becoming the vanguard of sustainability and conscientious purchasing in corporate workplace services and catering. Through several programs, we strive every day to do our part in reducing waste and encouraging sustainable practices. We use a large percentage of eco-friendly packaging, much of which is plant-based and fully compostable, such as sugarcane plates, plastic cups, cutlery, and lids made from corn. Our catering disposables are made from plant-based and fully compostable materials, such as plates made from fallen palm leaves or sugarcane, balsa wood platters, napkins made from recycled materials, and cornstarch cutlery. Any plastics used are 100% recyclable.
In Back of House, we put emphasis not only on the quality of the ingredient but also challenge our purveyors to reduce plastic packaging and increase bulk buying. We support small, local, women and family-owned businesses such as Hepworth Farms, Hudson Valley Harvest, Carousel Cakes, and many more. We recycle fryer oil to be repurposed into renewable energy, and we work with Leanpath Waste Management in tracking our waste, streaming, and achieving lower volumes of refuse. We exclusively use Ecolab to manage our sustainable cleaning, sanitation, and dish programs and supplies used, and partner with companies such as The Food Bank for New York City to reduce waste and connect the community with surplus food.
